Chris Lighty Says Obama Don’t Do It!

Like I said a couple of days ago, everyone has an opinion about this year’s election. This time it’s Chris Lighty. Apparently, 50 Cent’s suit is an expert about politics because he’s got a post on The Huffington Post.

I mean, props to Lighty for having an opinion. But is this dude really qualified to give Obama advice? At one point in this long ass post Lighty even tells Obama not to address rappers:

“Don’t lower yourself to speak to rappers! Just because you are African-American, don’t allow the press to make you step down from the plate of being one of the most powerful men in the world to address a comment from a rapper, no matter how great he or she is.”

Huh? WTF? I mean, I can sort of see where he is going, but come on, some of these rappers have a lot of potential influence. Of course, he probably shouldn’t address Lil Boosie or Soulja Boy, but what about Jay Z, Ice Cube or Ludacris. They got a whole lot of juice. I actually think Obama knows the importance of Hip-Hop and is actually playing his hand the right way when it comes to the culture.

And I know that most MCs probably never vote and don’t really use their influence the right way, but what if they did? What if they all of a sudden got a little more political? You mean to tell me that Obama shouldn’t address a dude just because he raps? Seems to me like Lighty is under valuing the power that the culture still has on young voters.

StumbleUpon It!

thats some puck advice especially coming from a brother - i would expect for some old white republican to say something like that! then in a fake attempt to correct him you say “maybe not soulja boy or lil boosie” man you basiclly saying the same dame thing! WTF???! but you think he should listen to a jay z ice cube or ludi huh? (i also checked how you tried to cover all the hot spots so you wouldn’t offend - moe dic riding) cause they have influance??!! dude whats the difference in that statement and some lil gold digger chick that says i only can fall in love with a baller? both are judging on status not content!! my point is everyone opinion is important - regardless of their record sales, their jobs or their social status!! i’ll tell you what everybody shouldn’t have and thats a web magazine - stick to the honeys - dog! i know you won’t leave this post up - but at least you’ll get the message!
